As much as a 'Gentleman's residence' Garthacre's appearance assumes, particularly from its front elevation; with all the masculine undertones that may suggest, Garthacre is actually incredibly charming; exquisite even; both from the absolutely beautifully colourful and beautifully kept gardens as from the exceptionally tasteful interior, both with a sensitive display of delicate characteristics and decor (not least meticulously chosen arrangement of soft furnishings) which all add up to create an altogether endearing home...
- Set in Beautiful, Mature Gardens
- A very Handsome 6 Bed Home
- With 4 Bathrooms
- And 4 Reception rooms
Now, in our headline of bullet points we have described Garthacre as a six bedroomed detached home. In actual fact, one of those six bedrooms is currently a rather enviably sized (double bedroom sized) dressing room (not photographed). This was indeed the original sixth bedroomed of the house, converted in more recent times, to a full dressing room suite with wall to wall wardrobe furniture.
And thus the 'master' bedroom comes with not just dressing room facilities to suit royalty but also proportionate en suite facilities as well as a south east facing balcony, for morning coffee perhaps. It is simply charming.
And given we have found ourselves at first floor level (Garthacre is presented over two storeys) we'll take you through and around this floor first. You'll have spotted the rather unusual photograph of the hall to landing windows; they are themselves an unusual feature (unusual in a good way, obviously). They bring much natural light into a rather gracious, spacious landing area, as you can also see.
All bar one of the five remaining bedrooms face south west, down and over towards the gardens below. The smallest sits to the front of the house adjacent to a splendid bathroom suite (with a separate loo). Two more double bedrooms enjoy en suite shower room facilities and three benefit from inconspicuous built in wardrobe furniture.
At ground floor you'll meander through four charming reception rooms altogether; each with their own character, offering a blend of traditional or refined contemporary; either way, all rooms also face to the garden.
Just like the main bedroom, the largest of reception rooms is what we call a 'through' room; windows front and rear. A particularly elegant room; open fireplace with windows either side, wood block floor, ( a theme throughout many rooms and hall); double opening doors to the garden.
There are two further separate reception rooms; one to the far end (westerly side) of the house, a living room suited perhaps for teenagers and guests - although many would say, 'far too good for that'. This room is the main room adjacent to a selection of ancillary rooms accessed from the hallway area itself off the kitchen. Here there is a laundry room, boot room and cloak room. Interestingly too there is a second entrance door to the front of the house. (Of interest to those seeking potential for additional semi independent accommodation perhaps).
Then there's the open plan kitchen with dining/ breakfast room. And whilst open plan, clearly the kitchen space is very much separated from the dining quarters by its very design. A room well equipped with granite work surfaces, generous number of units, twin oven, other integrated appliances - just as you'd expect would be provided by a property of this calibre - but also, for all you foodies, with a fab walk in pantry...
The dining area turns traditional with fireplace and more double opening doors to the garden - so again, a blend of traditional and contemporary.
And finally, as far as the internal accommodation is concerned at least, to the hall. To space where we perhaps ought to have begun in our introduction. For a hall and the first impression of a home it so often offers, indicates, we believe, so much of what to expect in a home. This does, perfectly.
You can see we have 'majored' on the garden photo slide-show; hopefully not 'over killed'. We also hope or even expect they spell out more than text could possibly, just what an entirely gorgeous garden Garthacre has to offer.
Considerably well screened from Noctorum Road, Garthacre sits around about mid way along this road. Central to East Wirral and thus especially convenient for all points of the compass; parents will be particularly keen to know the proximity of a selection of popular schools; Birkenhead School, BHSA and St Anselms all just a few minutes away by car. Drop the children off and head to the city for work will take just another ten to fifteen. For sat nav: CH43 9UQ
