Outdoor garden space is proportionate to the size of the house comprising a private, south west facing rear garden and patio. Indeed our main introductory photograph of The Hollies is taken from the rear of the house.
There are, as you'd expect, many endearing features to a period house such as this. There have been several introductions too to add to the comfort and charm of this home. Take the conservatory, for example. An addition designed to suit perfectly alongside and attached to the house. Notice, if you will, the replication of the arched windows which mirror those of the kitchen windows. This glorious space comes with under floor heating as well as a second cloakroom tucked away and out of sight to one corner - handy for gardening days.
Look for the wood burning stove in the rear family room, adjacent to the kitchen. And the most recent of all (2016), new family bathroom with bath and separate walk in shower area.
One of the main attractions or features however are the windows of the house. Specifically those highlighted within the kitchen but appreciate also please the crafted and now sealed unit and double glazed hardwood windows to both bays of the living and dining rooms. Others are original whilst some have been replaced in similar hardwood and a few smaller units replaced in a stylish 'tilt and turn' pvc finish.
These two front reception rooms are charming, nicely balanced and proportioned rooms in their own right. They have the added bonus however of enjoying double opening doors for an more open plan affair; best suited for parties and Christmas, no doubt.
And whilst on entertaining or overflow; consider the use of the mezzanine floor above the garage for student son or daughter or guests. Then again you may even consider the opportunity of converting the entire sandstone garage 'unit' with its mezzanine, utility room and boot room into a self contained 'annexe', as it were. (Ponder on the floor plan below).
Back to the very beginning and enter The Hollies via a vestibule with the first of two cloakrooms off to the right. To the left, the hall where there is access to the cellar.
Upstairs and there are five double bedrooms, each with their own character, all with pleasant open aspect views, especially, of course, those to the rear of the house and onto the gardens. A loft stairs (steeper, narrower) leads to a loft with skylight that again one may adapt for the proverbial train set or Scalextric...
Of course both agent and client appreciate certain improvements are wanted for the next generation of 'The Hollies', en suite, kitchen etc, and yes we have considered this in our asking price.
The Hollies stands along Mount Pleasant, a short road at the very top of Oxton Village which turns into Poplar Road which returns back into the centre of the village. It's about a five minute walk to the post office, butcher's and Green's the green grocer. For Sat Nav: CH43 5SY
